Who is HAPevolve?

The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) has been the leading advocate Pennsylvania’s hospitals and health systems and their patients for over 97 years. In light of an increasingly changing health care landscape, HAP launched HAPevolve, a wholly-owned subsidiary, to leverage its strengths and develop innovative solutions that help its members meet their operational, clinical, and financial goals. 

HAPevolve was formed to bring a different approach to finding solutions to some of the industry’s most pressing challenges.

Joe Tibbs

Joe is responsible for the strategy, operations, and growth of HAPevolve. He leads the HAPevolve team in working to address some of the most pressing challenges facing health care today. Joe brings experience from a life-long career in health care consulting and strategic solutions. He is passionate about helping health care organizations successfully transition to the next level of care during a time of significant change. Prior to joining HAPevolve, Tibbs served as vice president of solutions operations for Intalere (formerly Amerinet), a professional supply chain company offering a comprehensive array of services to assist health care providers better manage their non-labor spend and deliver high-level care. 

Joe received a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Utah, and his master’s in business administration in strategy and management from Western Governors  When not at work, Joe enjoys satisfying his curiosity around a seemingly endless list of topics.

Tom Grace, RN, PhD, CHEP

Tom Grace joined HAP during 2006 and transitioned into his new role as principal consultant in emergency preparedness for HAPevolve during May 2018. He is responsible leading emergency preparedness consulting initiatives with clients ranging from acute care hospital to a specialty hospitals and a nationwide contract for a large for-profit. Services have included incident support team for field operations during hurricane Irma in Nashville TN and educational programs and compliance reviews for CMS and Joint Commission Standards. Since 2008, Tom serves as team leader and founder of Southeastern Pennsylvania Surge Medical Assistance Response Team. Since its formation in 2009, Tom serves as the team commander for US Department of Health and Human Services and National Disaster Medical System Disaster Medical Assistance Team PA-4.

Tom received a nursing diploma from Sewickley Valley Hospital, an Associate in Science with Nursing Major from Robert Morris College and BSN from LaRoche College. He also has a Master’s in Public Management from Carnegie Mellon University) and a PhD in Administration from Cambridge State University.

Larry Estes

Larry is a seasoned sales executive with extensive health care experience in revenue cycle management, SaaS applications, medical device technology, and business intelligence, working with both acute and long-term care organizations. He enjoys the business challenges health care brings and finding the solutions that provide the greatest value to his clients. Married to a talented wife, they have four children. A strong believer in the arts, he serves on both the boards of Cantate Carlisle and the Carlisle Theatre. Larry has a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from Lycoming College.

Lori Mulholland

Lori Mulholland has a strong sales and marketing background and decades of experience across the health care continuum. Her health care foundation began in radiology, but prior to joining HAPevolve, she served in marketing and business development roles for post-acute and sub-acute health care facilities in the central Pennsylvania region, including one startup. She received a bachelor’s degree in organization management from Eastern University, and is a Retired Chief Master Sergeant, having served in the U.S. Air Force and Pennsylvania Air National Guard for 26 years. Lori was born and raised in Carlisle PA where she lives with her husband. She is active in many community charities and enjoys the sheer exhaustion of keeping up with her granddaughter.

Mary Akyol, MHA

Mary is responsible for developing and managing of projects, coordinating team members, and exceeding client expectations to ensure all deliverables are met in an effective and timely manner. Mary joined HAPevolve upon her graduation from the University of Florida’s Master of Health Administration program. During her two-year program, she completed a project with UF Health Shands Hospital where she led a team to assist the supply chain department in transitioning to mobile inventory. She was selected by American Hospital Association’s Institute for Diversity Program and was matched with The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania, as an intern where she worked on the product development process for HAPevolve. She also has experiences working with CVS Health, HCA-Medical Center of Trinity in Florida, and the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Mary received her bachelor’s degree in Social Work and MHA from the University of Florida. Mary is originally from Tampa, Florida and enjoys traveling and being with her family.
